General Information and Policies
Our goal at Doggone Obedience is to provide a safe, stimulating social environment for dogs to exercise, through our walking and supervised playgroup program. To ensure the Safety and health of your dog and others, all owners, walking, and playgroup participants must comply with the following rules and regulations.
General Requirements: All dogs must be at least 4 months old to join our group walks and playgroup program. We ask that puppies be spayed or neutered at 6 months of age. If your dog is not able to be spayed by 6 months of age due to medical or vet recommendation, they will be allowed to continue to participate in play groups and walks if all dogs are interacting in a safe manner. If we feel there is any concern with how the dogs are interacting, we will suspend group activities for your dog for safety reasons until they have been spayed or neutered.
Vaccinations and Health: All dogs are required to have the following shots to participate in walks and playgroups. Rabies (a copy must be sent to us via email or text for our records), DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo, and Parainfluenza), Bordetella (Kennel Cough).
All dogs must be in good health. Owners will certify their dogs are in good health and have not been ill with a communicable condition in the last 10 days. All dogs must be free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize the other dogs in our program. If your dog is ill owners will be asked to cancel walks till their dog is no longer ill.
Behavior: All dogs must be non-aggressive to participate in our playgroup and group walks. Owners will certify their dogs have not harmed or shown aggressive behavior towards any person or any other dogs. Please remember: your dog will be spending time with other dogs in a car and on walks. The safety and wellbeing of all the dogs in our care is our main concern. In the event your dog injures another dog or person you the owner will be held responsible for all medical bills related to the injury.
Collars, Leashes and Tags: All dogs are required to wear a flat or martingale collar while out with a walker. Tags should be attached to the collar. Dogs 6 months of age must have a valid dog license from your town of residence, as well as an identification tag with dog’s name and your phone number. These tags must be attached to your dog’s collar.
Weather Policy: For the safety of the dogs and humans, we may need to alter or cancel walks. In cold weather walks will be shortened to 20/30 minutes when temperatures are below 31 degrees. If temperatures are 15 degrees or below all walks will be canceled and you will be given the option of a 10-minute potty break. Walks are subject to cancelation during winter storms as well. During warm weather walks will be limited to 20/30 minutes when temperatures are above 88 degrees.
